If its not Khan, then did they have a backup script when negotiations failed with Benicio Del Toro.

Well, he did work directly ON the film, and it would seem to be the sort of thing that outright lie about will be easily discovered............

Personally, I'm about done with this until the confirmation from the studio but he can only be one of three things -

Stating the truth and the Khan rumours are all just that.

Lying and it is Khan.

Trying to walk the line because it's Khan..........but reimagined in a different way.

Either way, I'm now waiting for the studio line.

The TM article about Khan was fairly consistent, not so much because of the rumour but because they talked about wanting to do a post-credit scene with the Botany Bay. So yeah, not believable.
Actors are usually tied by some non-disclosure clause so Pegg is not speaking his mind here but actually relaying whatever the studio wants him to say. Easy and cheap PR tool.

Yeah, it we can't take his word then I guess he has a lot to lose down the track especially with the fans.

He has no reason to lie, and if he didn't want to confirm or deny anything he could have just dodged the question. He didn't dodge it, and I doubt he lied about it.
