PSHHAHHHHH! Does that scientist know about our magnetic poles shifting? Its more than likely that our planet has been through this so many times, I DOUBT it is going to split apart. However if it DOES.... I'll be surprised.

I think its more of a case of a periodic rebirth. There's no telling how many times the Earth has gone through this, nor how many previous dominant types of life have been snuffed out over the eons. The next evolution of life on this planet may not be human at all.

Read the comments section, or don't read the comments section. You will be amused or despair. :P

Mexico is surrounded by mountains and volcanos and sitting on the lake bed of Lake Texcoco and has no drainage, their tapping the ground water and that's causing the ground to compact over time. Same thing is happening in East Texas especially during drought conditions. Mexico is merely predisposed.

And increase should be expected in volcanic and seismic activity as the water level raises and compresses the earth's crust causing pressure and bulking. Particularly the Ring of Fire (the Pacific) is all connected and the moving pacific plate slaming under North America will eventually slip...

In order:
2005 Jakarta: tsumani Earthquake disaster on the South Western edge of the Pacific plate (or area)
2010 Chile Earthquake Easter Pacific Plate
2011 New Zealand South Western Pacific Plate
2011 Japan Earthquake/ Tsunami/ Nuclear Disaster West Pacific Plate

Cool

How many things are seemingly ignored with what's going on with the planet and attributed either to the evils of mankind or global warming?

Does anyone ever take things like:

Increase of solar output
Axis wobble
Possible changes in orbital plane
Changes in lunar orbit

into account?

The moon has been statically linked to causing volcanic eruptions.
