...and then merged.
We guess that spiral galaxies are formed by collisions with other galaxies and their black holes merge as a result.

Even Andromeda is on a collision course with the Milky Way and they think it just got thru munching on another Galaxy. Andromeda is already 2x the size of the Milk Way.
