TREK IS TREK. WHATEVER THE TIMELINE!
The next TV Series should be called STARFLEET! |

Interesting!
I went to go see it in 3D last Friday, and there was zero reaction to anything from the audience. The thing drags so much when watching it in a theater, but seems to pass much faster watching it at home. Very odd film...

Yes, I would re-write all three of the prequels, and some of Jedi too

Generally speaking I would leave them be. And I don't think Maul needs to stay alive - if he lives longer Palpatine has less reason to see his new apprentice in Anakin for a start, which is the major arc of the films after all - for the second film. Funny thing is, the last time I watched TPM I actually quite enjoyed it.
When I look at some of the awful blockbusters released since then (the Pirates sequels, G.I Joe and numerous others) it isn't as bad in retrospect. And it has a relatively thankless job of being the initial seed-sowing you have to wait to get to Ep III to see come to fruition.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the prequels the way some do. I find things I like in all of the Star Wars movies.

I never hated them, but don't think I'm too in awe of Ep.1 either!
But now I actually prefer Ep.3 second only to Empire. Star Wars is pure cinema and a blast and I love it, but Ep.3 and Empire are the ones where there's darker stuff going on to get into. The Order 66 sequence is pretty well done.

The Order 66 sequence is awesome. It's reminds me very much of the Baptism scene at the end of The Godfather when the Corleone family wipes out all of it's enemies.

More Maul, less Jar Jar, sounds like the typical "I can do this stuff better than Lucas" fanboy rage based on a lack of understanding on what Episode I is about, showing the innocent and blissful days of the Republic.

Jar Jar is widely regarded as a terrible character, and not just among the fanbase. That was just terrible movie making. In fact, if anything it's typically only among the fanbase where you'll see even an attempt to defend that character.

Keenser, Jar Jar, of course these cute 'n' stupid characters for kids are annoying. But in Episode 1 it serves at least a dramatic function, something most Jar Jar bashers are obviously unaware off.
You gotta show the nice side of the Republic just like you gotta show a bright Gotham City in Dark Knight. If the place is already f**ked up nobody cares when it goes down in flames. |
