Default The Bourne Legacy

Well guys, what do you think? And no this is not the new Jason Bourne. The character pictured below is Aaron Cross played by Jeremy Renner. This new film is going to take place directly after the last one and will focus on the aftermath of Jason Bourne's actions in the last three films, hence it being called "Legacy". I'm looking forward to it, even more so since Matt Damon's character will still be around and referenced to, even though he will not be in the movie himself nor have someone else play the part.

Yeah, watched the trailer, it will probably do all right. Though we knew there were others in the other movies, so I don't think the tag line works at all.

I just saw it as well. I still wish to see Matt Damon but I'm sure Jeremy Renner will do a find job. But yeah the tagline makes it seem as if this is another Jason Bourne just like how there are several actors that have played 007.

I figured the tagline just referred to the notion that Bourne was never the only person who went through the Treadstone/Blackbriar project.

Although this film seems to start with the notion of - what would someone who successfully completed it and didn't get amnesia look like?

I'm interested in it anyway.

Well, according to the trailer Aaron Cross is doing the same training as Bourne did. So, I think they are going to try to start over and make it successful this time around. Although, for this film to take place right after Ultimatum, it's hard to believe how Noah Vosen and Dr. Albert Hirsh are already released from jail. But, who knows they could be used as flashbacks. However, Pam Landy is alive and well and is hopefully helping Cross discover who he is.

I honestly wonder how well this movie will do without Matt Damon. But yeah, even if it does do well which I'm sure it will, it will not be the same without him...

I don't know what Universal is hoping for vs what they've shelled out for it.

Renner is OK but he's no special draw at the box office yet and without Damon the franchise is still technically starting over again. I figure if they can get around what The Bourne Identity did in 2002 (something like $120 million) then they should be able to look at that and be pleased.

I'm sorta treating it the way that X-Men: First Class played out (although Legacy isn't coming off what's generally regarded to have been a declining franchise) where it couldn't even do what Singer's first film did domestically.

Unless it's that good a film I can't see it doing what The Bourne Supremacy and Ultimatum did because they each built on the first film quite notably and there's almost no way this will do Ultimatum numbers.

It depends on how I feel when it comes out.

To be honest, I'm getting bored of blockbusters just now. Most of the ones coming out this year look terrible already (John Carter, Battleship) and even The Avengers feels like it will be a chore I'll only go to because I've seen all the preamble films.

Of course I could just be in that frame of mind because in the last couple of weeks I was catching up on some 2011 blockbusters I missed (The Hangover 2, Pirates 4) and they were both awful................then I really messed up by watching the abomination that was Green Lantern.

All of a sudden, smaller flicks are suddenly more appealing again. I went to see Carnage last week and enjoyed it more than any of the above!

That is why I love working at an independent movie theater rather than a main stream house.
