In my opinion only the second movie wasn"t particularly good.
The first was just a horror movie done horror style. The second was less horror and more actions and that elevated it.

The first Trek movies had about 2 years between them and they whaven't been a bad rush job because of it.
With all due respect to people involved in creative jobs, it is still a job and postponing a project does not make it better. So let's not pretend that the four years between the eleventh and twelfth Trek movie has anything to do with the recharging of creative batteries. The people involved are simply busy with other projects, that's why the release date is so late.

There is no pretending about it, JJ was working on Super 8. To meet a deadline of a 2012 summer deadline would have meant that he would have had to jump in headfirst. It would have been rushed.

I have never said that rushing is good, only that the gap between movies has nothing to do per se with quality. The four year wait is because of other projects, not because Paramount wants its creative people to enjoy three sabbaticals in a row.

As the subsequent ALIEN movies (after ALIENS) proved out, even though for the most part, they were all done under different production personnel.

Just watched Transformers Dark Side of the Moon. The first half tries to hard to be comedy then the second half becomes dark and moody. They really messed this one up. Sam's character screams to much, Carly Spencer (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley) character just doesn't. Much of the dialogue during the action sequences it unintelligible. The only thing i found funny was the use of Spock's "I have been and always shall be your friend" reference and Sentinel Prime's "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" Nice touch…

Just shows what can go wrong with movie trilogies…

I haven't seen the third Transformers movie yet, but that's because I pretty much hated the first two. I really wanted to like them, I was a Transformers fan as a kid as many people my age were. But they actually managed to make some movies about giant alien robots suck hard.

Save your money for the next Trek movie DVD… a better investment.

Eventually I'll probably see it on Netflix or something. But I wouldn't spend any money to see it. I'm already paying for the Netflix either way.
