Kinda...but I would argue that the anticipation among fans started back in 2006 or 07. That's what's missing here....there's not even anything for the fans yet. No viral marketing, no frickin poster. Nothing...

Perhaps there is nothing yet for the fans because there is nothing yet for the producers? Are they even finished with the script? And even if they were, would it be wise to start marketing more than one year before the movie actually airs?

Let's be honest, there'll be most likely merely three movies. Until the next series comes along we'll have to rewatch the old stuff.

So my question is, will the Star Trek/mass Effect video game clone be released next year, or will it be released closer to the 2013 date? Cause if you DO think about it, when that game DOES get released... it could technically be seen as a non canon release RELATED to the movie.

Don't know much about the game… are you suggesting events in the game tie in with the movie or that it will be held back to capitalise on the success of the next movie?

The latter.... I'm thinking (and a little worried/irritated) that the game might be pushed back as well. I would like to be able to have the game to play while waiting for the movie in '13.

Personally, a three plus year cycle is better from my perspective because it allows folks to go and do other things (IMO Super 8 was totally worth the delay in a Trek sequel anyway).

While some franchises have been known to work on a two year cycle I think their results have been less than spectacular (Fantastic Four, Transformers 2, Iron Man 2 etc) and they aren't even projects which film back to back. In all of those films you can see the detriment that rushing the sequel out caused. So I'm totally behind Paramount's support for the team and willingness to move the expected dates around to AVOID a rush job.

And there can be no major buzz until something gets made. Though I'm not sitting all day desperately waiting on the flimsiest piece of news either.
