Default Any Babylon 5 fans?

I have watched seasons 1 and 2 and just ordered the 3, 4 and 5.

I have to admit it took me a few episodes of season 1 for me to warm up to it. The lousy CGI was downright ugly. However the characters and story lines were interesting and I kept with it. Now I am eager to see the other seasons.

Anyone else seen or like this show?

I have and thought it was terrific. There is eventually a tv movie episode that expands on the backstory behind the loss of Babylon 1-5 and Earth's relation to the Mimbari. Good stuff...!!! There is lots of underlying social commentary (as was in and intended in ST TOS). The fx are better than TOS, but this series came out in the mid-90's. I believe, but won't swear to it that the FX were done on a Mac. (Maybe "Space Above and Beyond?) The stories, as well as the general continuing arc, hold up pretty well. Again, good stuff...!

Momentary drift from thread:
J. Michael Straczynski did submit a plan to Paramount to reboot ST TOS using many of the original and fresh stories as a reference to a newer arc plot. His idea was to explain, by directing the stories to carry the new "backstory" explaining the REAL reason why the first 5 year mission was carried out. I have a copy of that proposal somewhere, but where? Have to look.

It looked good and I believe that there was a thread about it...way back. I had even commented on wondering where he might have taken STXI. I feel that he would have had an overall plan for a movie arc BEFORE the first movie was filmed and there would have been a tighter unity running through them, yet each movie could have stood on its own, much like many of the episodes of B5 within it's overall arc. My opinion anyway...

Back to thread:

Yes, get the rest of the seasons/movies and watch. I wish that it were back on television. Sci-Fi...or whatever it is now, should show it instead of wrestling. My hope is that BBCA might make it available much in the same way that BSG is now. Sci-Fi doesn't show it either....grrrrrr...!!!

I will post this in it's own thread to prevent too much cross-threading...

Bigtime B5 fan here. Have all five seasons and two of the movies.
Got to meet Claudia Christian (LCDR Susan Ivanova) a short time back. A total babe and sweetie.

Also got to meet Stephen Furst (Vir Cotto) several years ago. A total cut up.

Loved the stories.

Another interesting note:
Both Bruce Boxleitner (Capt. Sheridan) and Peter Jurasik (Londo Mollari) played in another sci-fi classic from 1982: TRON. Other TRON actors make appearances in the show.

Did Walter Koenig wind up taking much flack fro ST fans for appearing on B5?

Shame that two of the main stars have passed on…

Andreas Katsulas (1946–2006) G'Kar

Richard Biggs (1960–2004) Dr Franklin

Not to mention… Jeff Conaway (1950–2011) Zack Allan

It would have been good to have all the actors appear in a new movie…

On another note… G'Kar's character always drew a certain amount of sympathy from me considering his reptilian appearance…
