Pity we never saw them in TOS!

Maybe they will pop up in the next Star Trek movie.

That's why the NX was called the Akiraprise.
The designer found an Akira model in the trash and though it was never used, so he based his NX design on a 24th century ship.

Like Abramsprise Akiraprise is a derogative term which implies that neither ship is a real Enterprise.
I don't mind such terms per se, nothing but some spicy and clear language. But these two words are ignorant. Abramsprise is nonsense as Mr.Abrams did not design the ship.

Akiraprise implicitly criticizes that the ship resembles another ship which is strange as the Akira was just seen a few times in the background (I have never noticed her) and as all Starfleet ships strongly resemble each other anyway.

I agree. Who's to say the Akira Class design wasn't based on the NX Class design in the Star Trek universe? It's not like there isn't a precedent for it in real life:

Indeed, that's a nice in-universe turning around. In the real world the 24th century came before the 22nd so the Akira inspired the NX but in-universe chronology is normal so there the NX inspired the Akira.

I think it is perfectly fine to criticize the NX ... but not with a lame "she looks like a ship that was made before her". And especially not because the ship design, being an in-between the Phoenix and the original Enterprise, is quite conscious of fictional history.

True. However, Abrams did supervise and approve the final design. From what I've read, Ryan Church did come up with some preliminary designs that did more closely resemble the original E. But JJ nixed those designs. So calling the abomination the "Abramsprise" isn't exactly nonsense. Abrams pretty much created this Twilight Zone version of Star Trek, therefore, Abramsprise is an appropriate derogatory moniker for the ship.

We could do that for them all then on that basis. That would be fun.

We could have the Roddenberryprise, Jeffriesprise, Probertprise, Bermanprise, Eavesprise...................instead of using their name, Enterprise. Gee, I hope I didn't leave anyone out.

Or just be adults and call the damn ship by it's name in whichever universe it appears in.

Nah. Can't do that. Names like "Abramsprise" and "Akiraprise" are meant to be negative. Most fans don't have much negative to say about the Enterprises from the original universe. Just the fuglyprise abomination from jj-trek.
