Default Picard, more like Adama than Kirk

I've recently started re-watching the original Battlestar Galactica series, and am noticing how Lorne Greene's portrayal of Adama, reminds me of Picard, in terms of his general bearing and mannerisms. I wonder if Patrick Stewart used him as a role model. As far as I know he didn't. But its interesting how much more Stewart's Picard resembles Greene's Adama, than Shatner's Kirk.

I think these two actors tend to have a similar presence. I can definitely see what you mean about the similarity.
