Sadly that's true, if you say something crazy or outrageous you always get more attention.

But...............on a more serious note..................the level to which some people took the leader of this church seriously has had some terrible effects.

I was reading on a BBC article today that a New York guy spent $140,000 of his own life savings printing leaflets for this guy's claims and now has nothing. I read claims that other people sold their homes, spent their kids college funds etc all in the belief that this was real. On one level yeah you can say 'well, that's your fault for believing in such rubbish anyway' but these people could be ruined now. And the world is still here.

Meanwhile, the main guy himself hasn't been seen for days.

Apparently, one time he was asked: "If your predictions do not come true, do you refund everyone's money?"

His reply, something to the effect of: "I don't tell them how much to send. They make that choice."

Yeah....that guy needs a bullet in the head. He's a life hacker....and I hate hackers.

I just read that this guy spent his entire life savings yesterday expecting the world to end...and of course nothing happened. Wow...what an idiot, I'm sorry. http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/w...b34ce5e40e%2C0

Of course not! He's probably either in jail or scared to death that something might happen to him. Or, maybe he hid underground.

Luring people into not not caring about their future (and the future of their family!) anymore is irresponsible but it's not criminal.
I am all for consumer protection and that stuff you can't protect people from their own foolery.

Same applies to all the poor souls who have lost their homes during the last years. Sure, banks have acted questionably but if you are a waitress you better think twice about whether you can really afford a house.
Or take a sect like Scientology. Sure, they are wicked and exploit their "footsoldiers" but it's a free world.

You make your own decisions. Not based one what someone else says.
