It seems that everyone here hates Star Trek (2009). So, briefly explain why you like/dislike Star Trek
For me: Like: Lots of humor (Bones keeps injecting Kirk with different medicine), good drama (especially in the opening when George pilots the Kelvin into the Narada while talking to his wife and naming their son), good action and special effects, good acting. Dislikes: too many bright lights flashing around. Also, the camera wasn't steady all the time, which made the movie feel a little hectic. Also, Nero wasn't a developed enough character. For how long the movie was, there wasn't enough Nero development. Also, Ayel was completely pointless.

Apologies, but I did this like two years ago when the film opened.
For the record, I don't remotely hate it but I am bored of time travel so I'm not repeating why I didn't remotely hate it.

It was alright.
The dislikes were obvious. The story. But the characters were great/

That it was not boring, that it was fun and accessible to new fans and it was a tip of the cap to the original crew. If Leonard Nimoy and Walter Koenig (to name just 2) gave their thumbs up to it, what more do I need to add.
I think like most "original fans", look forward to more of the Trek philosophy to be added in the next movie and not just see it as an action film. |

Although it's not exactly a scientific poll - although the one plus is it's not one of those ones that lets you vote endlessly but rather just the once like any proper poll - I nonetheless find it continually interesting to notice that out of all the given options the 'new timeline'/'destruction of Vulcan'/'new Enterprise' are much further down the list of fan concerns than the Spock/Uhura relationship and the environs used for Engineering.
Both of which I was actually fine with............though to be fair I was fine with most of the film completely. If I had to vote for one of the provided options I would probably make it a vote for the Nero backstory being weak...........or perhaps the 'fine as it was' option. I've yet to decide...............correction, I went with Nero's backstory. Of course, they could fix the Engineering 'problem' by writing a sequel script that doesn't have any scenes set in it! That way they don't have to squander money needlessly redesigning it all and that money could be far better spent elsewhere. That should work as a solution! Worked for TVH and still Scotty had plenty to do!

I'm fine with the movie as is. Hopefully the next movie will be a bit more substantial, but I won't hold my breath for it.
As for engineering...well...here's something that could've happened in a battle: UHURA: Captain, the Klingons are coming around for another attack. Signals are still jammed. We can't contact StarFleet. CHEKOV: Shields are fluctuating, Keptin'! I am wery concerned about out ability to sustain a defense. Phasers at tventy percent pover! SPOCK: The Klingons are cloaking and decloaking individual ships at random, Captain. It's difficult to determine the exact number of their attack force. SULU: Warp engines still off line, sir. KIRK: Scotty, we need warp speed and I need a brewski, NOW! SCOTT: (over comms) Ah'm fixin' an' pourin' as fast as ah can, sahr!
