With trailers like that I think a LOT of people will be avoiding it! Lol!

I hate to be this way, but Arnold IS Conan...and it's gotta be that way for a ton of people. This kid they've got to play Conan this time looks like a joke.
How's the buzz on it? It looks like flop in its purest form. lol

I don't know. I haven't looked into broader response much but initially I haven't heard much that's positive! I'm not that into the originals anyway, but then it's also been a fair few years since I saw any of them.
Frankly though, when you see a trailer like that (the Super 8 one), add in the crappy trailers for the likes of Thor, Captain America, The Green Lantern and the like, it already starts to make Super 8 look like a comparable potential masterpiece. So far this and the trailer for X-Men: First Class make this summer's run look of any interest to me at this point. (And I endured Battle: Los Angeles at the weekend (which I violently detested) so while I feel as if I've already seen this year's biggest cinematic termination you can never be too sure. There's probably a couple more contenders, and Conan could be one of them).

Battle: Los Angeles initially seemed interesting, but (like always) it looks like it will be another rental.
Kevin, do you think it's possible that this decade might well be the last for theaters?

Battle: Los Angeles seems to be a 'love it, hate it' one. I've seen folks raving over it online and for the life of me I have no idea why..............what the hey, if they liked it, fair play.
I don't think it'll be the last for theatres really. I do think there's been a fairly long run of unappealing BIG movies though that people haven't responded to. Even over the last Christmas holiday season in the US it wasn't the theorised 'big guns' like Tron, Narnia or Gullivers Travel's that impressed with their box office. It was True Grit, The Fighter, The King's Speech and Black Swan that really hit but they didn't have superb openings. They had something better - they were well made, quality films that appealed to more than the PS3 teen crowd that most BIG flicks seem to court, and they had great word of mouth. People went to see these films and then actively said to others afterwards 'you gotta go see that film, it's worth spending the money'. If you put out something that people talk about and talk about well you'll get a good return. If you don't then you might get a good opening but less in the way of solid legs. But cinema also has a lot of competition - games getting more like VR movies, illegal downloading and pirating and I don't think it's adapting very well to competing with them. Video-On-Demand might help them recoup for smaller films but there's really nowhere else to put a film like Tron, Avatar, Inception and yeah Star Trek as well except on a big big screen. That's where they are made to be seen.

Indeed. It should be interesting to see how the industry continues to adapt. I suspect it will do better than the music industry, so that's a plus!

I'm planning on seeing Battle: Los Angeles next week, was it really that bad?

I may have had a more allergic reaction that is normal when I went to see it.

To me, it just looks like schlock. Heard that it's better than 2012, so it can't be all bad.
