They would have been Beverly's memories obviously - but we would have to assume that they were using 'accurate' ones to amplify. Therefore he had it at the time he took her to see Jack's body.

Anyway, it has no official answer I suppose, but it seems most likely to be some sort of medical application.

I remember thinking it looked similar to what he had on his face after BOBW. Perhaps the problems he'd had at both events were similar maybe burns or something the first time and implant removal for the second.

And the production reason simply being they reused the props simply to serve the purpose of the scene, the prop obviously made for Picard in BOBW so may as well use it again.

I wondered if maybe it was also an attempt to add some touches of weirdness to the memories. Beverly's recollections do have an attempt at 'horror' about them (the dead body, the screams, the long walk down the creepy corridor etc) and his disfigured face partly adds to that effect.

But, yeah - I still go with medical application.

It is slightly horrorish. Makes me wonder if McFadden had any say in how that scene went as her directing début a couple of years later in Genesis had horror type filming.

That's actually quite a good 'creepy' episode all in - I might have to have a watch at it sometime again.

Couple of little secrets revealed in that episode. Troi and Riker's 'nearly' moment, the background a bit to Jack Crusher etc

I always thought that in the episode Parallels they missed two interesting ideas, one to have Jellico in command of a few of the ships (I also felt that way about Tapestry) and other to have Crusher still be alive on a few of the ships.

Sometimes the MA listings for shows have a summary of ideas that didn't work out or couldn't be made to fit into a 44 minute show.
