How I do feel about "heavy" discussions? What do you retards think I am here for? To crawl your lazy backs and bake you some cookies while wasting my breath on things we all agree on anyway?

However, to quote sociology (dont know the guys name): The peace of society is based on dialogue and human communication. Human comunication is misunderstanding. Because of that misunderstandings humans have reason to go on comunicating. Means: No misunderstandings, no communication, no society.

War starts when dialogue ends.

I love a good debate. It's a great chance to use that wee grey lump that's sitting around inside my skull. I don't like flame wars. They're pointless.

Botany Bay: then you are in the right place! There's nothing like online for creating misunderstandings! LOL

LOL Fan, that was a funny comment, but a correct one.

BB-

If you feel we are "retards," as you so poetically put it, then why post at all?

Didnt I put this smiley at the end of my sentence? As in "its a provoking joke, haha"? Not funny? No?

Retard !

Kidding aside. I am just annoyed sometimes of the widespread oppionion heavy debates could be something bad. Imagine a life where we all agree on anything. I may be a bit masochistic in that subject. But I honestly want to feel that there are real people outside and not just preprogrammed stereotypes. Whats more boring then a world without conflict? Damn, we enjoy action packed movies but cant stand a little flaming? Even flaming can be relatively healthy from time to time.

Red-

I thought all IL(Independent Living) people were "Handicapable." LOL

Flaming has no place in a discussion, nor does name calling, put downs, rudely questioning someone's race/orientation/religous affiliation. You can make your point without the use of any of them.

The use of a smiley after a insult still makes it an insult. I can smile and say *bleep*bleep*, but it's still rude.

Yes, a rude joke. Whatever...

I agree that flaming and namecalling should be avoided. But it amuses me where people actually draw the line. As your reaction to the retard-joke shows that different people have different humor, different people also have different conceptions of flaming.

I think its impossible to live without it. Now that doesnt mean we shouldnt try. But the existance of this thread alone is what makes me wonder:

Imagine the majority of the people here would say, heavy debates are bad and Botany Bays joke was a rude insult we do not want to see here.

Then what? Close down all contradictionary debates, erase every wicked or rude joke and evade every topic that could turn out to be a minefield.

We all know what the result would be: "Did you like the movie uniforms better then the uniforms of the TV-shows?" Not that to debate this is bad. But to debate things as that only?
