In Nero's "flashback" when explaining to Pike why he's insane, there is an image of Nero's wife. She has the tats.
It's onscreen so it's gotta be canon. ![]()

Not to forget they were roaming around the newly created timeline for 25 years prior to Spocks arrival. They had plenty of time to alter the appearance.

But they altered their appearance when they went through the black hole and appeared next to the Kelvin

The fact that the wife has them tends to discount what was seen in Countdown

They were already bald with tats when they appeared in the past, after being sucked into Spock's supernova-eating black hole. I don't see how there was time to stop at a tattoo parlor.
It's pretty obvious that they screwed up with the comic.

You're correct. I will have to look at that again.

Yep, there isn't a scene anywhere in the movie where they don't look lke that, including the wife. The movie doesn't attempt to address the issue at all, including the lack of ridges (which is fine with me, that's what reboots do). All of this other stuff comes from Countdown, which doesn't line up with the movie.
Nero also says in the film that his ship in his time is just a mining vessel, not some Borg monstrosity. Countdown was a promotional tool, not a true part of the story.

"This was (!) a simple mining vessel" - before we got Borg gadgets

That's not in the movie either, that comes after the fact in Countdown (Countdown was written after the movie).

I think the only scene that shows any "normal" Rommies was OldSpock's flashback mind meld with NuKirk. We did see a couple of Rommies with hair and no tats in that scene...if I remember correctly. So if I'm understanding this correctly, the comic should pretty much be disregarded as rubbish because almost nothing in it lines up with the movie. I haven't read it yet, and don't plan to, so it doesn't really matter to me. Anyway, we all know the Tatoomulans body art was just a nod to Darth Maul, right?
