Mission,

Not assigned to anything, no insignia. The insignia might have some embedded security to allow access to sensitive areas.

Until you've been through training, you don't have the right to wear the insignia.

Think of a pilot's "Wings".

True enough.... but pilot trainees don't wear utterly blank uniforms either. And certainly Academy instructors would have the emblem, per your example. Yet I see no insignia on the 'grays', no rank symbols, nothing.

I'll gladly admit that doesn't have to mean anything, I just find it odd. If they're simply 'distant people in the background of a shot', then these uniforms are all that's needed.

It is funny that the Pike had a captain's hat in the original pilot (though he never wore it in the aired footage), and the idea of a hat was dropped from TREK uniforms all together. Now hats are back in some form... go figure!

Holy Crap!!!

I go on vacation, and these cool pics show up.

I really like the car, and can not wait what the blue-screen will turn out to be, or those short pillars with the red dots will really be.

haha, these pics are awesomelly exciting!!

here's something funny somone said on "ain't it cool":

I'm hoping we get a car-chase scene in the parking garage using that hybrid car. Spock can nerve-pinch the driver while Kirk slides across the hood, commandeers the car, and eludes those drunken Klingon thugs from Kappa Kappa Jajvam

Yeah, maybe we'll get a Bourne Identity style car chase sequence with that car through the streets of San Francisco!

every uniform, and i mean it, has an insignia. the huge angle is just from the spy photo. they wet into plenty detail of all the uniforms. i'm the guy in red...i asked if i could die and was told no...

Yes, I forgot them! What would they be driving? That's a good question, what kind of car does a Klingon drive?
