Maybe the Dominion had that much more powerful weapons? Come on, there isn't much of a conflict or storyline if the good guys aren't getting pummeled...

Why?
They outsorced everything from the Utopia Planitia Shipyards to the planet of "Madicus En Chinacus."

In STNG, at the beginning of the series, the Galaxy class had the reputation of being a very tough and well armed class of starship. There was definitely a fear factor for them among the Federation's enemies. But the borg changed all that.

Quite Frankly the Dominion was a superior power and the Alpha Quadrant shouldn't have won. But it's part of Trek inconsistence to do things like this because they don't like keeping up with the trump cards the make up in one episode and then don't explain why the don't work later and the good guys suddenly are back in the fight but it's still a gosh darn hard fight...

That's Berman and Bragga.

That's one thing about the Dominion War I was thinking Saq, how are the Federation doing as well as they are? Weyoun and a couple of other characters indicated that the Dominion was much older than the federation, he said in one episode it was 2000 years old, you'd think realistically it would be much of a fight. I think they did do a good job of showing the federation losing, though, they weren't winning many victories and with the Cardassians, who were set up as formidable enemies in TNG siding with the Dominion, it shouldn't have been much of a fight.

Agreed.
I hate watching Federation ships get blown up like they were made of plastic as well. Take a look at "The Wrath Of Kahn" It's far more real than what Berman and his crew started to do in the 90's and up to 2005 or so.

HMAS Sydney was just found a few days ago after 65 years. She took about 150 hits from the Germans before going down. The same should apply to Star Trek.

Well TWOK had a mov ie budget and Trek Tv had a TV budget, you cannot cost efectively create movie style effects wekly, even now with CGI, much les then with models.
