Once more, they would have to almost completely change his character for it to work for me. No hokey android silliness, no Venus drug, but a more fiendish Mudd could do it. You couldn't possibly just do him as he was in TOS anyway, methinks.

He would have to be reconcieved somehow.

I also think that this very likely. Seems like an easy way to keep the spoiler hungry fan crowd at a distance, just feed them with something false.
