Either that or try to imagine an old military-type informational video with Captain J.T. Kirk as narrator talking about personal problems (social diseases) associated with "Shore Leave" and the native inhabitants.

Add Bones in as a medical authority, along with several "Red Shirt" crewmen who were the few to apparently return safely from a search party, only to find, after a few days, that they brought back some interesting "alien" lifeforms.

If you watch the HD version of Star Trek IV, there is a new commentary by William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy explaining that there was a scene that involved Saavik having Spock's baby but they felt that it wasn't vital to the story so it wasn't worth showing it and just wanted to have Saavik left on Vulcan.

If you would like to know more about Saavik, there's a new story by Margret Wander Bonnano called Star Trek: Unspoken Truth, which explains what Saavik was up to after the H.M.S. Bounty left Vulcan to face the trials on Earth.

Would not have been vital to ST IV, but would have left some interesting plot twists for later, perhaps a child of Spock in a later movie...that is if the films had stayed in the prime universe.
