Was she to be Spock's prodigy after Saavik? Would Valaris have done what Saavik did to "save" Spock?

I honestly don't think so. Saavik had far more appreciation and experience with Spock than Valeris ever did. Saavik is also far more honest. She wouldn't betray Spock like Valeris did, which is why Roddenberry didn't think it a good idea to have Saavik be a conspirator. He was right. I don't think Saavik would have done all she did with Spock on Genesis only to betray him on Enterprise.

I think NCC implied that Valeris might have been a Romulan agent ... and whether people like it or not, she was meant to be Saavik and only this explains the strong feelings Spock has for her which lead to disappointment, frustration and violence in the mind-rape scene.
About Valeris being present on Khitomer, it makes perfect sense to show your cards and force the conspirators to surrender immediately. |

No idea but I find the idea of an offspring of Saavik and the katra-less Spock a bit disturbing. A bit like getting impregnated by a zombie.

![]() I just think of a clone of someone growing up separate from its source. The clone would, under normal development, "establish" it's own "soul", so to speak. In the movie, that body grew so fast, it did not have time to establish a true separate identity. Spock's katra just filled the void. |

This makes sense, he was basically the equivalent of a hospitalized child which grew up superfast and without culture, language, etc. until Spock's katra overwrote his mind. But then their offspring would not be Spock's child but the child of Saavik and this primitive and culture-less Vulcan who shares nothing with Spock besides his body.
That's why I hope that Saavik was on contraceptives when she screwed PrimitiveSpock during his first pon farr, it simply wouldn't be Spock's child. |
