I beg to differ. The Undiscovered Country ended with a Captain's Log and I think it was quite effective.

If the movie does end in a Captain's Log, it would probably echo, or at least foreshadow the ending of TUC (knowing what big trekkies the writers are).

Oops, that's right - the ending to The Undiscovered Country is a nice touch, especially the part where Kirk initially says 'where no man' and then corrects himself to 'where no *one*'. Like I said, my fervent wish is that they don't do that 'These Are...' stunt again.
