We don't know the specifics, but I think that's more the direction Dr. Porco's consulation will take. Look at it this way, she and her team are busy processing raw image data from a moon of Saturn. Why would they hire her to help determine "If a photon torpedo was fired at a Romulan ship with 68% shield strength on its starboard quarter, would the impact diffuse like this or more like this?"

It seems inevitable that changes will be made out of the necessity to conform Star Trek's technology to modern scientific knowledge and discovery. We've discovered a thing or two in the scientific realm since the 1960's and although a lot of what went on in Star Trek doesn't conflict with modern science, some things very much do. So there will have to be a change or two, and this lady seems like the one to recommend such changes for realism's sake.

I agree with this., makes sense. but I hope they don;t loose the basic look of things from TOS.
