Default Battle Damage for the Enterprise?

I've been thinking about this alot recently.
We know damage is reparable but ...does anyone think there will be a battle in the movie that damages the Enterprise this early on. It was strictly avoided in the series.

I find it hard to believe to be honst. Would they really take this brand spanking new starship and put it in peril or the mortal kind for this movie?

It's possible I suppose...But I just can't see it.
I think if there is to be a battle in this film it might invovle other ships.

Hmmmm... how to say it?

According to some rumors, what you say may be true: they may not put "this" brand-spanking new starship in danger of severe battle damage.

On the other hand, even in the general time frame of this story's main action, the E shouldn't be "brand spanking new" anyway. Kirk was a mere lad when the E was launched.... if anything, the 1701 would be newly refitted at best, wouldn't it?

Well they did do that with the Enterprise B...I persaonlly didn't like it...new ship getting trashed right out of dock....what are the chances...to the first enterprise?

the timing will be tricky but I'm not quite sure anyway...I do know the Enterprise was out much longer than with Kirk...That ship has a long history.

Well, the only reason it was avoided in the series was because (a) the level of special effects really didn't lend to it and (b) the budget made it an impossibility.

If there's a battle, ships are going to get damaged, I'm sure.

Of course. Id didn't mean to imply that it did not
Especially since we see what torpedos do against shields it's hard to imagine Enterprise going unscath but at the same time most ships the Enterprise went head to head with were inferrior as the ship never needed to go to a starbase to effect repairs.

The Enterprise was always sustaining damage....but as noted, they didn't have the budget on the series to show it....I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the Enterprise take some real hits and sustain some real damage.... I'm trying to recall, but it seems to me the Enterprise did have to go to starbases for repair on occassion...I'll try to check on that.

I do so want to see a space battle or two in this film. I don't think that's stretching it too much. But after all, the Enterprise and her sisters are exploration ships, and i want to see some planets and civilizations found and some landing parties beaming down and some planet side action as well. That great starship is a means to an end. It's the way to get where mankind is going. They should get someplace, so i don't want them getting damaged too badly. I would LOVE to see the crew repair a small hull breach though. That WOULD be sooooooo groovy!

I want to see a battle as well..hull breech repairs in all.
I've also wanted to see a plasma conduit explode on a ship... But I'm right there with you...all the way.

True, damage is part of almost every Trek story.

Put it this way: without battle damage, what would Scotty be doing to fill his time?

We've got to see that first moment when, unable to change the laws of physics, nevertheless makes his first engineering miracle aboard the Enterprise.
