I've just completed AFU again a few months ago on XP using DOSbox.
And Generations, my very first PC game

I miss (although I still have the game) Bridge Commander for online play (except when you ran into retards who hacked and cheated at the game.)

And it's too bad Bethesda dropped the ball on Legacy. That game was promised to have lots of cool stuff, and it came out the door feeling half-finished, and short on delivery of promise.

Yep. It was just okay. I suppose it was a good base to start modding, but that isn't necessarily a good thing either. The game should have been great from the get-go!

Just like ST Online in my opinion....
These late Trek games are cheaping on the graphics which is a primary draw for game players.

Actually, Legacy did pretty well graphics wise. The Federation ships look especially good. Weapons fire also looks rather cool.

NCC, I never did get to try Ultimate Universe because I had the Xbox 360 version of Legacy.....where Bethesda REALLY dropped the ball.

I know this is gonna start the whole PC snob argument, but I do admit I wish I had gotten the PC version just to get all the cool mods that were made for it. I still occasionally play Legacy, just cause I like the single player missions.

The big problem I had with Legacy was that it felt like Star Trek Armada close up. Don't get me wrong, I liked Armada and Armada 2, but as a star ship simulator it really left a lot to be desired.

It was the same Engine as Armada they were to cheap to created a new engine.
I found Legacy to be an upscale at best but Bridge Commander blows them out of the water and it's just a different engine.

I want to see better and I want to be wowed.

Yeah, Bridge Commander is the most enduring of them all. Star Trek Away Team wasn't bad, but there doesn't seem a be a whole lot you can do with it. I also liked Elite Force 2. Bridge Commander is just amazing how much it's changed through modding though I think even there it's starting to slow down. Wasn't there a project that some of the BC modders were slowly working on called Excalibur or something like that?
