Uh, they're not "taking their time." Making a good movie is a long and careful process. XI took four years, starting in 2005, to be developed and produced.

It's not a matter of feasibility as it is perfectly possible to produce movies in a two year interval (gee, this is Trek, it's not like we are talking about friggin' art films) but rather one of not oversaturating the market. Perfectly sound business decision.

I am not saying they have to rush the process but keep us up to date with how it is coming along ah well maybe they want to keep quiet about the sequel, like something exciting up their sleeve.

If they rush with the sequel, the result will be like "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen"

June 2012 - it won't get here any sooner.

As of March this year there still is no script (per an interview Abrams gave with the BBC) so don't expect anything anytime soon.

You also have to consider that Star Trek is not the only thing they are working on.

Final season of Lost
Fringe
MI:IV
maybe a Cloverfield sequel
some other productions I never heard of before (2:22, Cowboys and Aliens, Undercovers)

I don't think that O&K have much to do with 'Lost' - that's more Lindelof than anybody else but once the finale for that is out the way in May he can get into the scripting a little more.

O&K aren't writing M:I:IV but Abrams is involved in a producing capacity (though he likely won't direct - even though there's been no word I'd be surprised if he didn't direct the Trek sequel because he has not (as yet) committed to directing anything else before 2012).

I think the Cloverfield sequel is very nebulous right now, and I'm not sure what involvement they have with Fringe day to day (that might be more Abrams again) but Cowboys and Aliens is their script and they might have some other scripts in various stages as well.

However, at some point Paramount will want the Trek sequel to become their priority because it will be one of their most important releases for 2012 and as the clock ticks they will have to focus on that.
