That said...They would have done better by giving them the play by play announcers job for Harry Potter playing "Quidditch".

I have to say, in their defense, the first LOCUTUS and Startrekdood555 that were put in charge did their best considering they weren't able to devote their time strictly to st.com. They may not have done much with the site itself but they kept the boards working and tried to keep the idiots at bay.

Either they were reassigned or something, because they seemed to disappear and the whole site was set adrift...then the new guy came in.

That gets thrown up from time to time with me as well, but it's been an odd event for a few months.

If the site vanishes, I have no idea if there would be any warning at all or if it would just no longer be there.

Technically this place is already "dead" since the mod team left months ago...

And with no one in charge, it's unlikely there will be any announcement. Either they'll shut this place down when the new st.com goes online, or Paramount might conveniently "forget" this place is here and just let it continue to drift. Or they'll leave it open until someone from CBS complains and Paramount is forced to pull the plug.

So, is this a sign that CBS is planning to actually get off their asses and do something useful with Star Trek again in the TV vein, or do they simply want a piece of the online action again after letting the original site slide themselves when it suited them to do so?

They could always do "CSI - Star Fleet"
or ... "Big Brother - 24th Century" (The reality show, not from the book 1984)
or "Survivor - Ceti Alpha 4": Khan's Tribe
or "Late Night - with Commander Data"

Agreed! Plus, without William Petersen...it's just godawful IMO.

I never liked either spinoff, so I guess you could say that for my money, CSI doesn't work without Petersen and the original gang.
