Perhaps Khan just hang around a little longer in the Mirror Universe and future humans either merely inherited the aggressiveness from the genetical experiments and not the superior physical and intellectual abilities ... or genetics aside, humans just stayed pretty war-like because Khan ruled the East a little longer, because the Eugenics wars camea bit later and were more brutal, etc.?

Perhaps Khan and his fellow supermen simply won the war and established dominance over Earth.

The rest of the technological development happened much as in the main universe because they wanted to expand their influence and Empire beyond Earth and into the Final Frontier.

Good point, after all we have never seen the Emperor, have we? Perhaps they are all Augments or perhaps there exists a two-class system: Augments rule the Empire and ordinary humans have to do the dirty work, hence their increased aggression?

Don't you just love this idle, speculative, continuity-weaving stuff we Trekkers always do?

Indeed - it does pass the hours!

The only problem with my idea is that while it may explain humans it's less effective at explaining the similar development of the mirror alien species - Kira, Odo etc.

Since Bajorans didn't have augments (that we know of) something else would have had to have happened to twist them as well.

Maybe the mirror universe is just that. A mirror. Maybe it's just evil. Everybody's evil. Even the "good guys" are evil. Maybe in the mirror universe, evil is considered good. And if you're good, then you're the "bad guy". It could be just that simple. Just like the anit-matter universe in that TOS episode with the crazy goatee guy, Lazarus? I'm just guessin' here folks.

Yeah, I mean I think it's consciously designed to be an expression of the polar opposite of several of the characters just perhaps to show one extreme over another - since mostly the TOS heroes were clear cut and straightforwardly heroic in their natures and characters types.

But then I think the later DS9 shows went for a generally more playful bent - I mean, basically dominatrix Kira is an excuse for some leather gear and slightly suggestive lipstick lesbianism.

Which may work - depending on what you fancy!!

If we had seen a Mirror Khan maybe he would be leading the Peace Corps!!

How is it that whenever the Enterprise fires phasers, the beams spread out in "V" pattern? What the heck are they going to hit with that?! What's up with that?

Objects on the tactical screen are closer than they appear.

A lot of folks in the 23rd Century don't seem to realize that 'simple Impulse' propulsion isn't going to get you anywhere soon. What's up with that?

Why are they always "coming up on it fast, sir"?
