Ditto.

I agree. Star Trek (2009) establishes a new continuity within its own alternate timeline/universe.

Anyone who doubts the official canonization of Trek 09 must realize that Spock Prime being there pretty much sums up exactly what happened to Spock post-Unification (TNG) and therefore pools it into canon with everything else.

Yes, Star Trek (2009) is a part of canon as much as Star Trek: The Final Frontier. Some may not like either movie, but canon it is.

It just falls under 'alternative universe' canon.

Personal canon is a different ball game and from that perspective people can do what they like with it. It doesn't change the official studio status.

Well said! If it "airs" or is "shown" in theaters, blessed by Paramount Studios, it's canon.

It's canon as in it exists in the official Star Trek universe, but at the same time establishes its own canon. No one can say that the film violates the canon we've known really.

Unfortunately, STXI is canon. However, it is not part of the original canon. It is totally disconnected from the Star Trek that we all know and love. The alternate reality plot device has ensured that it creates its own canon compltetly separate from the original and should not be confused with the original. To me, it's a totally new franchise since it shares so little in common with its forbear.

You have made it clear over and over that you hate NuTrek.
