I haven't caught up to "The Menagerie" in the TOS-R box set yet, since I'll be reviewing the episodes/disks in order on my site. Maybe I'll catch part of the episode online to remind me of the differences between "The Cage" and TOS.
But generally, I hope the film harkens back to this era of transporting in visual and sound effects... more so than some other effects to be included. As primitive as the old TOS methods where, I always found those classic transporter effects more conceptually convincing than it was depicted in the feature films or later series, which always seemed too "pretty" for my taste.

Sounds good-Like maybe they did with Scotty in the TNG episode "Relics" with the old sound and look for the Transporters?

Well, if they're changing the look of the film (new interiors, new uniforms, etc) I think I want a different transporter effect, almost, you know?

Red, I understand what your saying. But I think I want that calassic touch for my tastes.
Now if Wynonna appears in the Transporter...they can use whatever they like, cause' i won't be paying attention by then...lol...

I prefer the classic "Cage" style, but since it's all a re-boot, I do not expect anything but a new style to the transporter effects.

I see your point, and I'll make this addendum to my earlier post: if the transporter uses new effects, I hope they don't look cooler and more advanced than TOS-era. If anything, the transporters would be slightly less sophisticated and powerful... they shouldn't look like they belong in the 24th century while everything else is prequel-era.
