Maybe, but I don't think so - they probably just all went to see it on weekend 1 and that was enough for them.

When it comes to horrors, monster flicks and that genre as a rule those kinds of films are pretty front loaded and make most of their money at the start because most only go and see them once.

It's performing generally the same way most of it's ilk do (it will end up around $60 million which is akin to Underworld and most Vampire flick) but for me it comes back to the stupid expenditure in the first place. Because none of those flicks cost even remotely close to $150 million to make that kind of gross (once international was added) ended up being pretty decent.

Again I'm discounting Twilight because they are just an aberration.

I think Universal took a gamble they could create a new era of BIG classic monster films and it (in this case) hasn't paid off.

I think Universal took a gamble they could create a new era of BIG classic monster films and it (in this case) hasn't paid off.

Hopefully, they'll think twice before attempting a Creature from the Black Lagoon remake. Leave that one alone. It's fine as is.
