It had not really occurred to me to do so, as I doubt I could write a Trek story that would universally please Trek fans and Trek newbs alike.

I am very flattered though, that you found it enjoyable, since I know you do not hold Trek XI itself to be Trek, yet you somehow found enjoyment in this "following the same lines" continuation.

I enjoy good, creative writing. I may not care for NuTrek, but I do recognize inventive and original ideas when I see them. And yours is very inventive and original. Besides, that story could be spun into a "this was all a dream" kind of thing where we learn that the entire Abramsverse was a figment of Kirk's imagination, and he's really still in the prime universe where events have unfolded as they should have. LOL! That is indeed one route, which would, of course, likely please those who were displeased with Trek 2009. But then we'd go back to the usual argument of being slaved to previous canon. The adventures in the Prime TOS era would have to be "fill in the blanks" missing adventures where, of course, we already know that the primary crew survives, no matter what dangers they may encounter....that does not mean, however, that there are not options if one is forced to stick to the original canon. A lighthearted adventure that doesn't involve space battles, but also, does not have to involve time-travel (easier than putting your socks on in the Trek franchise) could be spun. A story where Kirk and crew are not in any mortal danger, but there are challenges to be faced.

However, that said, despite my disinclination, my wheels did starta-spinnin' again when you asked if I planned to continue the story, and I think I have a good idea of where to go, should I decide to move forward with it.
