Where's the link to the sounds? I could not find it. But, I do remember watching the film and thinking that as the shuttlecraft lifted off from the beer factory, it sounded a lot like the motorcycle Jim Kirk rode in on. Just did not fit the images, to me.

The shuttle sounds sucked horribly. They were, for lack of a better word, feeble sounding to me. They sounded weak and puny. I would have preferred the more Star Trekkish, turbine-like sounds used in past Trek. The Abramsprise's sound reminded me more of the pod-racers from Star Wars Ep 1. As did Kirk's bike and especially the Jellyfish. Actually, the sounds the Jellyfish made were the worst sounds of any ship/vehicle I have ever heard in a sci-fi franchise. The odd oscillating sound effects that seemed to be prevalent on the vehicles in this movie reminded me of the vehicle sounds from the Star Wars prequels. I had that thought even before I learned that the same person who did the sounds for the SW prequels also did the sounds for STXI. Go figure.

Wow. I actually seem to almost agree with you too. None of the sounds (except one sound. The "bridge chime" whatever it is. The one that beeps three times then ends then beeps again? Bridge Ambience maybe? I dunno) felt right to me. I wanted a traditional sounding Red Alert sound and never got it either!!!

We heard it as the first missile was detected from the Narada to the Kelvin.

It was faster, but it was there.

There were a lot of sounds from TOS in there, especially on the Bridge.

- The "Sonar Ping" sound heard periodically.
- Some of the button presses were from TOS.
- The slow warp speed buildup sound was a big part of the Finale as the Warp Core exploded.
- And some of those computer sounds on the Kobayashi Maru test sound wafully familiar.
