Man, I agree with you 1000% on that one. We may not see eye to eye very often, but on this we are in total agreement, sir. I absolutely hated most of the sound effects. The shuttle sounds sucked horribly. They were, for lack of a better word, feeble sounding to me. They sounded weak and puny. I would have preferred the more Star Trekkish, turbine-like sounds used in past Trek. The Abramsprise's sound reminded me more of the pod-racers from Star Wars Ep 1. As did Kirk's bike and especially the Jellyfish. Actually, the sounds the Jellyfish made were the worst sounds of any ship/vehicle I have ever heard in a sci-fi franchise. The odd oscillating sound effects that seemed to be prevalent on the vehicles in this movie reminded me of the vehicle sounds from the Star Wars prequels. I had that thought even before I learned that the same person who did the sounds for the SW prequels also did the sounds for STXI. Go figure.

I also didn't like the Sound FX of the shuttles. To me, I was waiting for someone in the theater to shout out, "Here's George Jetson! Daughter, Judy! His boy, Elroy! Jane, his wife!" I did like the sound of the Jellyfish, however. It was alien enough for me to buy into...yes, a little on the Star Wars side, but I like Star Wars...well, Episode IV and onward that is.

Years ago a friend told me Janeway's voice sounded like Jane Curtin's Conehead character from Saturday Night Live. After that every time I heard her, sure enough, Premat Conehead came to mind. Thanks guys for planting that Jetsons seed in my head! No telling how long before I get rid of that one!
