It apparently plays the whole soundtrack, not only the first seconds...?!

For what it's worth a lot of these are in the "Art of" book that came out in November though you get a lot nicer pics here on that site. They didn't include my favorite bridge concept from the book though, that I actually preferred to the bridge that we got (actually the concept of the final bridge was better than the final product.)

Did anyone look at the video "Sound for Film" on this site? Love it, love it! Also, in watching the film for the umpteenth time, anyone notice that when the ship goes to warp, the impulse engines fade down, and when the ship drops out of warp, the impulse engines light fire back up? Oh, that type of thing really rings my bell! One of the small annoyances for me in previous Trek TV shows and films is that the impluse engines were ALWAYS ON, even at warp. That didn't make sense to me. Thanks to the production crew that had some Tech-minded Trekkers on hand when creating those visual effects!

I didn't like the sounds. Not at all. The shuttles sound like someone who took all the drugs in the world and plays the flute...
The Enterprise sounds like a highway when a car passes by.

NCC, I have to disagree. The sounds were organic sounding, like something real and grounded. Very much in tune with TOS.

Whenever I hear the shuttles, I think of this old commercial...

The whoosh of the Big E streaking by got two big thumbs up from me. The shuttlecraft sound had to grow on me, however. At first, it sounded like George Jetson's mobile. Now, I can live with it.
