I sat and watched the film with John, and asked him at that time, and all I know from him is, that was not his D4 in the film. I don't recall who designed it actually. I'll have to ask him again.

I do know that he submitted his D4 design when interviewing for the job. He was as surprised as anybody that it ended up in the art-of book. Guess they liked it that much anywho. I personally think it is way better than the design that did end up in the film, however briefly, and barring freeze-framing, one is able to make it out.

The main big tell/give-away is, the one in the film has this large protruding piece off the dorsal front of the head. Reminds me of a certain dinosaur actually.

You can tell by my profile pics here that I'm a fan of the Klingons
One of the best times I had was when I found out that you can walk on the hull of a qItI'nga' in Klingon Honor Guard

I gathered. Being of Viking decent myself, I have always loved the Kilngons. At least the dramatic idea of them as a fictional enemy for the Federation, as I'm not a battle-crazed war-monger.

Walk on the hull, huh? Way-coolness.
