Also I wouldnt be looking for any Avatar sequel any time soon. As much money as it is making from what all I have been hearing (I havent seen it yet) the only thing it really has going for it is the animation and beautiful scenery. Also it took so long to make, not taking into account the movie had been planned for well over 10 years, that I wouldnt expect a sequel to it for at least 3 to 4 years.

That would give Zoe more than enough time to finish the next Trek.

Of course this is all just my opinion. That and $4.50 at Starbucks might get you a cup of coffee, but forget about getting the biscotti.

Scheduling wise, there likely won't be a serious conflict should a sequel arise. Not if they start filming in late 2010, if that date is to be believed at present.

They'll probably wait until all the final worldwide numbers are in on Avatar to decide how to proceed with it but a trilogy has been mapped out on a basic level by Cameron and he's of the opinion he can produce a sequel in far less time than it took for the first because all the technological development and effects R&D is out the way.

Given it's generally positive reviews and healthy box-office so far, a sequel would seem more likely than not.

But Saldana has signed for multiple films in both potential franchises so it does set up the theoretical possibility of a conflict depending on ultimate production schedules.

I would gladly trade time for quality. That is, get me a better script (I'm not a hater, just would rather see more "beef" this time) and I will wait for the movie to come out later.

I think this first movie was a great start, but if it is going to have the same intelligence level again, i will be a little disapointed. I could live with the plot holes considering the bones (no pun intended) the writers threw the old school in the movie. I would be wearing thin a little the second time around. I really believe it HAS to be better, or else the risk starts being run again of it all going away.

Yeah, I think now that the contortions required to put into film 1 what they kinda mechanically needed to achieve in terms of getting the nuts and bolts out the way they should have time now to focus on these aspects of Star Trek that got a little glossed over.

We'll just have to see what they develop and take it from there.
