Why was Pike in a wheelchair at the end?
Why was Pike in a wheelchair at the end? Was that a result of the creature that Nero put in Pike's mouth?

Perhaps that particular creature attaching itself to the brain stem has a debilitating effect on humanoids, unlike the Ceti Eel from TWOK.

There are a lot of motor pathways running through the brainstem.

It has not been said, though, that he is confined to that wheelchair for life this time around. I expect to see him back on his feet again.

There are probably many life forms that would operate in such a fashion as the Ceti Eels and the Star Trek bugs do in the Trek universe.
Just like there are many variations of things like Scorpions, Spiders and such Earth bugs!

The Ceti eels don't mess with the brainstem. They wrap themselves around the cerebral cortex
