Liz: Noooooo! I said blissfully suppressed memories, not ignorance! Now it's all come flooding back! Damn smug little rainbow-stripe-wearing... grah. I wish the Traveller had dumped him in a black hole or the like.
DS9: But Worf was already a bridge officer on the Enterprise, why would he need to take a bridge officer's course again for the Defiant? ![]() |

I'm sorry for the slip.
It was probably a mild horror induced stroke...it turns out some episodes and movies cause them in Trek fans (ST V seems to be a big culprit).

STAR TREK and "continuity" should never appear in the same sentence!

Exactly....But not exactly like you might take that, Worf presumibly took the training on the Enterprise before it was distroyed at nerandra three,(Remember, he got promoted) He was a Lieutennant up untill that point (As was Kirk) thus showing my idea that Kirk-Spock met at a command type school is rather feasible.

I'd finished talking about the bridge officer test and was answering a point about command training. Worf wasn't required to have any, so obviously any and all command training is done while cadets are still at the academy. So with the bridge officer training being for non-bridge officers only Kirk would never have needed to go back to academy after his graduation.

I am sure bridge officer training could be done aboard ship by seasoned officers.

Heres proof there was a seperate track for command officers
The Kobayashi Maru scenario was an infamous no-win scenario that was part of the curriculum for command-track cadets at Starfleet Academy in the 23rd century. It was primarily used to assess a cadet's discipline, character, and command capabilities when facing an impossible situation. (There is nothing to say you couldent take the course later on) And here is where im Possibly proved wrong in my surmise (hey, at least i can admit im wrong) In the 2250s, James T. Kirk became the first (and only known) cadet to ever beat the no-win scenario. After taking the test and failing twice, Kirk took the test a third time after surreptitiously reprogramming the computer to make it possible to win the scenario. Kirk got a commendation for "original thinking", and later commented wistfully that his stunt "had the virtue of never having been tried." Kirk would later defend his "cheating" by arguing that he didn't believe in the no-win scenario. Ironically, Kirk also defended the test itself by suggesting "how we face death is at least as important as how we face life". But no matter, there still is a command test, it just doesnt have to be given at the academy anymore, if you skip it, you can retake it, just like coarse at college.

Must we hate on The Final Frontier? Some of the greatest moments for Kirk, Spock, and McCoy out of any of the Trek movies came from that film! It's not a good movie, but it grows on you.
