He has apparently now signed a deal with FOX to develop 'The First Class' spin-off film.

I have no idea how this fits in with his supposed deal to redevelop Battlestar Galactica and some of the other projects he was attached to, but he seems to be making himself pretty busy these days.

I guess with Singer's involvement that makes this a true prequel, not another reboot idea.

With all these super heroes and sci-fi movies he's done, sounds like he's getting typecast as the director to do sci-fi/fantasy stuff. Not sure if that's a good thing for him. It ends careers for most actors that end up typecast for certain roles.

Perhaps, but sometimes the best directors just go with what they know, and voila, a quality product is the yield of the toil.

To be fair to him, the sci-fi genre and associated films do seem to be what he's more into. Yes, he's made 'The Usual Suspects', 'The Apt Pupil' and 'Valkyrie', but he's also done the first two 'X-Men' films and 'Superman Returns'.

Added in his deal to make 'Battlestar Galactica' and long held ambitions to update 'Logan's Run' (which I sense will be something he never actually gets around to) and return to the 'X-Men' universe and I don't feel it's typecasting as such.

Just a director working in a genre he has an interest in.
