I think Horatio has it right. Some things can't be repeated, no matter how hard you try. Ghostbusters was a silly movie that somehow caught all our imaginations 20+ years ago. We should look forwards, not backwards, for our entertainment.

My prediction: when they try to remake Gremlins, the world WILL end. Just like in 2012. And we'll deserve it.

Yeah, I would almost prefer that they go in that direction again. The game was really good and captured the spirit of the films perfectly. I'd even take a new animated series. The Real Ghostbusters is still fun to watch all these years later.

It's a sequel, not a reboot... I wouldn't call it a complete rehashing due to that.

Coming in 2012, The Godfather starring Vin Diesel as Don Corleone

(just kidding, then the world would truly end!)

Marlon Brando would role in his grave... and then come back to haunt Vin.

I haven't seen Vin in a while...not that I (or anyone else) have been looking.

It's more the lack of original ideas that is my problem.

THAT made me laugh!

Seriously though, DO NOT mess with Ghostbusters. The original film was a classic and should be left alone. I loved the three leads equally because (as noted above) how well they played off each other. Replacing any one of them woud kill that chemistry. How well did the Blues Brothers sequel turn out, eh?

Killing off Venkman and bringing him back as a ghost is just an example of the silliness they are stooping to to indicate to me that the film would be trash. If a gimick like that is the best they can think of then I can't see the movie being funny enough by script alone.

I heard they were thinking of doing a Rocky Horror remake with Adam Lambert as Frank, Lindsay Lohan as Janet, Aston Kutcher as Rocky, Kelly Osbourne as Columbia... WHY?! Just because they can do it? There are many more things that could be done than should be done.
