It's got good ingame goodys to. TNG and DS9 uniforms along with the ship and Red Matter Capacitor. Between the extra engineering slot and the capacitor you may be able to keep the ship in the game a lot longer.

Another big perk for the D2D deal for me is that I could have the game right when it's released. If I were to continue on my Amazon deal, it would arrived probably 5 days to a week later...however it's a full 15 bucks less, which is also appealing to my wallet.

Now Cryptic has said there will be a grace period before your required to enter your retail code to allow for late deliveries so if you want the Amazon order you'll probably be good to go.

I've been reading reviews on Direct2Drive and I'm having second thoughts. It looks like the company itself isn't much when it comes to the customer. Anyone here tried them?

I ordered from them only once. I got the Secret of Monkey Island SE and it's been just fine. I don't know how they would be if my comp crashes or if I had to contact support...

I went to the STO forums and after some searching just hung out and read for awhile. Those guys don't seem to have a problem with D2D and act like they use it all the time. Since they frequent that site and are well known to each other I guess I'll take their opinions over some basically anonymous "customer" reviews.

According to their site you can re-download anytime for free. Now the customer service seems to be either automated at first or they yanked some guy out of the jungles of Borneo and sat him down in front of a computer. Customer service comments were a little mixed.

I'm gonna go with my Amazon. I still get free beta access and whatnot, so I'm good with it for a cheaper price. Let me know how the D2D stuff works for you though.
