Wow, now i really need to read the books and see the movie so i can discuss it with the teenage girls I teach and my pre-teen niece

Are they actually all going mental in anticipation over it? Is it Taylor Lautner or the romance that draws them in? I can only remember thinking after seeing the first one last year that it was about the most insipid Vampire film I had ever seen.
And not in a good way like 'Let the Right One In'!! Does anyone else think Robert Pattinson looks like The Count from Sesame Street? I think it's the eyebrows myself.

I'd watch a whole 2 hour movie about The Count from Sesame Street over watching Twilight. The Count is awesome!
And yes, they are "going mental" over the anticipation primarily for the romance based on what I've seen/heard.

Hormones, my friends. Hormones. Then again at the time James Dean brought in the young ladies to the theaters as well. The thing is, the current fixation by these young ladies is no James Dean.
 On a side note.... glowing eyes aside Brad Pitt did make a pretty good vampire.
