They could have a cameo watching the ship pass by... "Tee-dee!"

I think that needs some closure, but not in a big dramatic way. That can be a small sub-plot in a future script. I just don't think we need to re-hash an old story. If you want to re-explore an old character, then think Harry Mudd. Brendan Gleeson ("Hamish" in Braveheart) can do that part.

As much of a Jeff Hunter/Bruce Greenwood/Christopher Pike fan I am, I want to see the character in NEW adventures.

Heck, we have so little on this guy as it is, one of the GREAT things about neu-trek is that we can see more of some of these other characters, and I would argue that Pike benefited the most from this in JJ's movie.

I have an idea for a remake: Admiral Pike is bored by his desk job and feels old. While he inspects his old ship, he takes her out on a quick tour around the block and when a crisis starts to emerge he takes over command.

Mucho more screentime for Greenwood.

How about in the next movie Pike gets the babe and Kirk gets left in the dust?

But in this universe maybe Pike never encounters the Talosians? Maybe they don't even exist in this reality?

Since 'The Cage' establishes they had been there for a very long time, well before anyone else was there why would they not exist in this new one?
