Default Sequel: Have Captain Kirk battle the Talosians and rescue Admiral Pike on Talos 4.

After all its a alternate timeline and things are different. The Talosians in this timeline might need a older Pike for other reasons than in the original timeline and young Captain Kirk and the Enterprise will have to battle their illusions in their attempt to rescue him. Spock could seek out the older Spock again played by Nimoy to get advice how to beat them from his experience in the original timeline.

Nah. Just a rehash of an old story. Only difference is Kirk and maybe old Spock. Besides, do this and Trekkies are just going to ask why the Talosian timeline is different. New ideas. New stories.

I'd rather the writers draw from the novels and comics for the next movies instead of past TV shows and movies.

Hey, the destruction of Vulcan was a Talosian illusion!

I'd LOVE to see Pike return in ST X11 no matter what the story.
At the DVD release party Nov 16, Bruce said he'd like to appear in ST X11, but isn't sure it will happen. There seems to be more questions than answers about the sequel. JJ didn't even confirm that he'll direct.
I just know I'll be awfully disappointed if Pike isn't there!!

Yea, I'd rather Star Trek XII steer well clear of the Talosians. I don't mind if Pike returns as an admiral, but I'd rather see a new story than a rehash/remake of an old one...
