Glad to see their going with Khan. This time Khan is going to steal the big "E" and maroon Kirk and crew on some desolate planet with Kirk screaming at the top of his lungs Khannnnnnnnnnnnn…! as the ship leaves orbit. Can't wait for this one! There will be lots of hand-to-hand combat and lots of dead redshirts. Let the chase begin!

Yeah, you do realise that there's been a revolving door of Trek writers and runners already over the years who all moved on or got replaced?

Of course he won't stay with it forever.

I think we're going to be hearing all sorts of things about Star Trek XII (it definitely will not be called Star Trek II, that's fa'sure) up until the cameras start rolling. The idea that they've already got an actor tapped to play Khan is ridiculous, IMO, especially given that no story has been written and they haven't even decided what the next movie will be about yet. It may be Khan, it may not be Khan. It may be Klingons. It might be something totally new. I think they're still looking at different ideas at this point.

I'm ready to dismiss this as just Hollywood gossip and that it won't be the last of such stories for the next year or so...

Exactly Commodore.

I could see a title like Star Trek-The Next Adventure, ect.

It is defiantly way too early in the process to even venture a legitimate guess at what the script will be.

Yeah, it'll be something like that. I could even see them doing something like the James Bond movies in which the movie will only be called by its specific name, with the franchise title only used in small print. Either way, the days of officially numbering Trek movies ended with Star Trek VI.

And yet we'll continue to hear about this actor or that actress being connected to the project because rumors are just as valid as the truth in Hollywood news. Some entertainment reporter pegged an actor for the role of Khan because he or she automatically assumed the next movie will be about Khan--and now it's spreading across the internet like wildfire...

A Bond-ish naming approach would work.

I'm talking about Abrams as head of the franchise, Berman stuck with Trek for 18 years. Abrams will do the sequel, then move on.

im going to call it star trek II

why? because this time around..im actually born to see the new series of movies come out.. not jump in ten years after i was born and go omg this movie is so cool and people go "it was out before you were even born"

so in a way this new timeline and new series of movies have a special meaning to me.

im actually witnessing the creation of new trek..not pre existing.
