I agree, it would have been a stellar movie...and I also agree that the second part was weaker than the first...I tend to think that's endemic to the breed. The first part of a cliff hanger has the fun of getting to pose all sorts of problems and questions....the second part has the burden of answering them...answers are rarely as interesting as questions.

2nd part just didn't have the cliffhanger to it, that might be what makes it appear to be weaker.

What a great set of episodes. Tops any cliffhanger in trek if not in television altogether.

The only thing that was weak imho was the "It's Captain Picard! He's SOMEHOW managed to get through" (paraphrasing) magic solution. If they'd used Data has managed to get through to Captain Picard, it would have been a stronger path from the storyline perspective. Still an awesome episode.

Maybe so...but that part where Locutus tells Data the secret.."Sleep..." Very neat, shows that ole' Picard was still in there.
