Default The Prisoner Mini Series on AMC

Tonight was the debut of the Remake of the 1960's show, The Prisoner, it stars Jim Cavizel and Sir Ian McKellen as Number's 6 and 2. I have to say, the first two episodes got me hooked. They were really bizarre and the plot keeps you wanting more. There will be four more episodes, with 2 playing each night at 8. So Sunday(tonight), Monday and Tuesday will be the days to watch. Anyways, for those of you that has seen the premier, what are your thoughts?

I will have to wait until next week. I am out of town until then so they should be waiting on my DVR when I get back. Unfortunately I dont get the channel in HD. Then again, Trek should be there waiting for me also and that will be BD. I am a great Prisoner fan and I hope this remake/reimagining will be well done.

It's an intriguing series, but then its original premise is intriguing.

I do think it captures the spirit of the original Prisoner series, but goes about it in a different way. In that capacity, it's as different from the original as nuBSG is different to the original BSG in the sense that it's far more a character study series than an adventure series. I think it poses the same questions as the original series--individual versus society and are we really truly ever free--but so far it doesn't seem to adding anything new to the mix. That being said, I think it does depict a slightly more sinister and dangerous Village than was in the original series. Caviezal's Number Six is also dramatically different than McGoohan's--whereas Caviezal's is more vulnerable and Human, McGoohan's alternated between fiery and icy.

I'm curious to see how this one pans out...

After last nights episode, I had to have a drink or two just to stop my head from spinning. I have come up with a theory that Number 2's wife is actually the key to unraveling the mystery of the Village.

Two: What were you doing in the mountains, Six?
The Prisoner: I was lost...I was...wait, what did you just call me?
