Well Picard is probably the better Capt. But if you ask me who I'd rather be its Kirk all the way.

Oh yeah. Kirk would totally do that.

My choice is Picard though. He took the time to listen to his crew, while Kirk lost many red-shirts on the field.

Default Proof Kirk is better than Picard

Here is proof that even Picard thinks Kirk is better. Just look at one of the posts in my list of why Kirk is better than Picard. It took place in "Generations" when both Kirk and Picard were in the same movie.

When Picard needed to save a planet, he couldn't. So he went into the Nexis, found Kirk, got him to come back, and had to have Kirk to saved the planet.
Kirk then said "It was, Fun!"

If Kirk said "It was fun," then he obviously didn't take saving millions of lives seriously.

Picard has to send in Data to do the womanising. When you come off second choice to a doll you have to admit you gotta problem.

But TOS and TNg were diffrent eras with diffrent needs of a Starfleet Captain.

TOS was still kind of a "wild west" of space, you needed soemone with 'cowboy diplomacy" to veture out.

TNG (overall) the alpha and beta quadrents were stettled overall and a much clamer type of exploration was needed. You needed a good commander who was more of a seasoned diplomat, but not afraid to shy away form a real battle.

DS9 changed all this.

On the contrary, Kirk took such things very seriously...

To him, it was fun for him to be back in the heat of the moment, save lives and get the job done...

What his whole adult Starfleet career was lived for.
