I guess that this scene was a homage to Nichols who was a dancer. After The Rodd was dead, the sexploitation part was entirely eliminated with the exception of Seven and T'Pol.

Anyway, Uhura is still a fine character in this movie but skirts make no sense from an in-universe point of view and Saldana would be equally sexy in pants in my opinion.

That's terrible. There is no need for nakedness in the deser in any sci-fi programme.....
